Liverpool fans have shared their delight as Luis Diaz‘s father was finally released after his 12-day kidnapping nightmare in Colombia.

The news broke that Luis Manuel Diaz had been taken into the hands of a ‘Humanitarian Commission’ made up of the Catholic Church & the UN’ on Thursday.

The 58-year-old was taken along with the forward’s mother when they stopped for watermelons at a petrol station on Saturday, October 28. Diaz saw his mother rescued hours after being kidnapped but his father remained missing for 12 days.

However, it’s now been revealed that Diaz’s father has been rescued and taken to a nearby city for medical checks, with family already on their way to see him.

Now, Liverpool fans have shared their joy over the news with one fan writing on social media: ‘Gonna be unreal tonight,’ after Diaz was selected to start Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Toulouse.
