Frank Lampard has ruled himself out of consideration to become the next coach of Canada’s men’s national team, according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law.

The former Chelsea and Everton manager was a surprise candidate after being linked to the role earlier in April. If hired, Lampard would’ve possibly been in charge when Canada co-hosts the 2026 World Cup.

But after holding talks with Canada Soccer officials, Lampard has decided that joining the Canadian national team doesn’t represent the right opportunity for him to return to coaching, Law adds.

“I’m enjoying being with the family and looking to get back at some point,” the former Chelsea star said. “Hopefully something comes up that feels right for me. I’m keen to get working again, but as I reiterate, I’m enjoying family life.”

Mauro Biello is currently in charge of the Canadian men’s team on an interim basis following John Herdman’s departure to become Toronto FC head coach last summer.

Biello is in line to coach Canada during the country’s first appearance at the CONMEBOL Copa America this summer. Canada opens the tournament against Lionel Messi’s Argentina on June 20.
