Tottenham fans can rekindle their affiliation with Bayern Munich following Friday’s mouthwatering Champions League quarter-final draw.

The six-time European cup winners were drawn against Tottenham’s bitter rivals Arsenal in the last eight of the competition with both legs to be played next month.

It means former Spurs striker Harry Kane will have the opportunity to get one over his old foes as he has done on multiple occasions in the past.

Kane has scored 14 goals in 19 games against Arsenal across all competitions including 14 in 17 in the Premier League.

Tottenham fans are no strangers to siding with the Bundesliga giants and they will be fully behind Thomas Tuchel’s men once again ahead of April’s double header.

In 2012, Tottenham fans lent their support to Bayern ahead of their Champions League final clash with Chelsea at the Allianz Arena.

That’s because a Chelsea victory would have handed the Blues the final Champions League qualification spot for the 2012/13 campaign.

Spurs had ended the season in fourth place to claim a place in European football’s premier competition.

But with a maximum of four teams permitted to enter the competition at the time, sixth-placed Chelsea would override Tottenham’s accomplishment with a win.

And for all of their hard work, endeavour and support for the Bayern cause, Chelsea lifted the trophy on penalties, meaning Spurs would contest the Europa League instead.

However this time around, the Premier League could have five teams in next season’s competition should the UEFA coefficient eclipse that of Italy and Germany.

Therefore an Arsenal win over Bayern would actually improve Spurs’ chances of qualifying for next season’s new-look Champions League format.

But Spurs fans are likely to look past any idea of Arsenal reaching the last four, instead hoping their team can leapfrog Aston Villa to claim a place in the top four and a guaranteed spot in next season’s new 36-team league format.

Spurs sit just two points adrift of Villa with a game in hand and momentum on their side ahead of the run-in.
