Jurgen Klopp’s side lead the way but this season’s battle for the title is set to go right to the wire and this clash will make a huge impact.

Victory for the hosts at Anfield would extend their lead at the top but a win for Man City would give them the advantage for the first time this campaign.

Should they draw, Arsenal would be rejoicing as they would then have a chance to go top.

Liverpool vs Man City: Final showdown?

Liverpool vs Man City: Team news

Liverpool will be hoping Mohamed Salah is fit for this huge game.

Salah returned to action against Brentford but worsened his muscle issue during that appearance and hasn’t played since.

Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai came off the bench last time out and are expected to feature at Anfield.

The Reds will be without multiple key players though, with Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones out.

As for Man City, Jack Grealish is the only absentee as the winger looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

Josko Gvardiol returned to the squad against Man United and is in contention to start this weekend.

Phil Foden took a knock in the final stages of the derby but he is expected to be fine heading into the trip to Merseyside.

Liverpool vs Man City: What has been said?

Foden starred for City in the Manchester derby and Guardiola has labelled him the ‘player of the season’ so far.

He said: “There are other people who love to play football but they have distractions, he has no distractions.

“He loves to play. Still he’s playing football and has another six, seven, eight, nine, ten years.

“He’s like, ‘I’m a baby, I’m a boy and I like to play football’. It’s the same feeling when I see him training and playing football.

“He lives for it… I don’t think he’s reading too many books or going to the cinema but the football… he already will be a legendary player.

“Because of the short age, the minutes he’s played, the goals he’s scored and the titles he’s won and he’s from home so that’s why the connection with our fans is unbelievable.

“He’s the player of the season. With all respect for other incredible players but no one has been as decisive as him.”
