New Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning to make sweeping changes this summer with the aim of rapidly improving the overall quality of the Premier League squad, according to Rob Dawson of ESPN.

Manchester United are expected to have money to spend this summer on their desired transfer targets. The club will likely pursue a new striker and a defender.

But Ratcliffe’s plans to overhaul the current roster will rely on offloading numerous players in order to boost the club’s budget and ensure Manchester United adheres to profit and sustainability rules, Dawson adds.

Over 10 players could be forced out of Old Trafford after this season, including Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, and Christian Eriksen.

With Anthony Martial likely to leave on a free transfer this summer, Manchester United will also be open to selling players already on loan, such as Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellistri, and Brandon Williams.

However, attracting top talent could be harder if Manchester United fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The sixth-place Red Devils are currently in danger of missing out on automatic qualification, as they sit five points back of fourth place after 25 games.
