Jessie Fleming is on the verge of joining the Portland Thorns, where she’ll team up with Canadian icon Christine Sinclair.

The Oregonian club will break the record for the most expensive signing by an American women’s team when it pays around £250,000 ($316,361) for Fleming, according to The Telegraph’s Tom Garry.

The midfielder reportedly said goodbye to her Chelsea teammates Monday. Fleming’s compatriot Sinclair, who ended her international career in December, confirmed Monday that she’ll remain at the Thorns for another year. Janine Beckie, another Canadian standout, is also on the NWSL club’s roster.

Fleming won seven major trophies over three-and-a-half years with Chelsea but has started just four Women’s Super League matches this season. The club omitted her from Sunday’s squad to face Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has 123 caps for Canada. Fleming scored in the semifinals and final of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to help her country win gold.
