West Ham manager David Moyes is set to sign a new two-and-a-half year contract, talkSPORT understands.

The Hammers are currently sixth in the Premier League table following a stunning 2-0 win at Arsenal on Thursday night.

Moyes also guided the club to Europa Conference League glory last season, but has still faced questions in recent months.

West Ham were threatened by relegation last term and started the 2023/24 campaign poorly.

After six years in charge, Moyes’ current contract runs out in the summer, and talkSPORT understands the Hammers hierarchy were unlikely to offer him a new deal until the club’s recent run of form.

With four Premier League wins from five – including victories over Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal – the Scotsman is now set to extend his stay at the London Stadium beyond this season.

Asked about his contract following the win at the Emirates Stadium, Moyes said: “There’s plenty of time to talk about that. We’re not in any great rush. We can get that done when we’re ready. I’m enjoying my time.

“When we came back here, we came back to make sure West Ham didn’t get relegated.

“That was four years ago now. Since then, we’ve grown and I think the team are growing and getting better.

“We won’t be challenging all the top teams all the time because we’re not dining at that table but we’re coming now and again to these teams and giving them a game.”

Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show on Friday morning, ex-Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara had urged West Ham to reward Moyes with a new contract.

O’Hara said: “In my opinion, David Moyes deserves a new contract, what are you waiting for?

“I don’t know what people are looking for out of West Ham, you’re never going to be Arsenal, you’re never going to be Liverpool, you’re never going to be Man United.

“You are punching above your weight, sixth in the table is the peak, is the top of where West Ham can be. David Moyes, give him a new contract and let him go and do his thing.”
