Chelsea captain Reece James posted a heartfelt Instagram message after visiting a Blues fan recovering from a heart attack.
James starred in his side’s thrilling 4-4 draw against Manchester City last Sunday as Cole Palmer scored a last-gasp penalty.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men continued their upturn in form and came from behind three times to eventually salvage a point.
But during the goal-fest a Chelsea fan suffered a heart attack in the stands and was clinically dead for 20 minutes before medics incredibly saved his life.
The fan has spent the week recovering in hospital and was given a huge lift when James paid him a visit.
Following his visit, the Chelsea and England star took to Instagram to share a picture of himself alongside the supporter before writing a message to his 3.1 million followers.
The Blues skipper wrote: “I visited a hospital this evening to see a Chelsea fan that suffered a heart attack at our game against Man City, he was dead for 20 mins and the medics managed to save his life.
“He was a strong man with an amazing family, I’m so happy he’s recovering well.”
“Life is so precious and unpredictable. Anything could happen at any point, so enjoy every moment even when things are tough.
“Be kind and always show love, you never know what people are going through or what is round the corner. Stay well and see you soon. Reece.”
James is managing his own recovery after a challenging 12 months blighted by injury. He suffered a hamstring injury in August that kept him out of action for two months.
The 23-year-old was recently left out of the England squad for the final two Euro 2024 qualifiers..
However, the right-back returns to Premier League duty for Chelsea next weekend when they make the trip to Newcastle.
