For fans, perhaps his most memorable moment came at the Hawthorns when his stoppage time header secured victory over West Brom in May 2021.

Reflecting on the goal he told liverpoolfc.com: “I was thinking, ‘Try to score’, be there to help. It’s a desperate moment that you just try to do everything. The header was lovely.”

Though it was one time against Newcastle to deny Miguel Almiron, which the Brazil international is most fond of.

“I’m a goalkeeper, I have to go with the save!” Alisson added.

“I’m sorry… I think people will be disappointed with me for not putting the goal!

Allison tipped the Newcastle forward’s volley from inside the area on to the crossbar before then clawing it away for a corner.

“As a goalkeeper you have to go for every ball, you never just look at the ball going into the net, you have to always try,” he continued.

“It’s what I did in this one, to be honest. It was a really difficult save and a nice save to look [at]. It always feels good and helped the team on that day with the three points.

“I have a feeling this one will be special for us.”

Alisson has played 224 matches across all competitions for Liverpool keeping 102 clean sheets to date across his six-seasons at Anfield.

His signing in 2018 has been one of manager Jurgen Klopp’s most crucial.
