Tottenham fans react to Yves Bissouma suspension with same surprising comment

Tottenham fans were strangely happy to see Yves Bissouma receive a suspension as he picked up a yellow card against Wolves.

The Spurs midfielder was booked at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, his fifth yellow card of the season.

It means the Mali international will now miss Tottenham’s next Premier League match, a crucial clash against Aston Villa.

With Ange Postecoglou already missing several key players, it is not ideal to lose such an integral star against Unai Emery’s high-flying Villa.

But Tottenham fans seem happy to see Bissouma miss out and that’s because they face Manchester City just days after.

One fan wrote on social media: “At least Bissouma has got the yellow card now and won’t miss Man City through suspension.

“Bentancur can come in for Bissouma against Villa.”

Another said: “Happy Bissouma will be there for City. Hopefully, he can play freer now that the 5th yellow isn’t on his brain.”

A third put: “Bissouma was going to get a yellow, felt super unavoidable, but i’d much rather have him for city than aston villa.”

And this fan said: “Great half, not that unhappy about the Bissouma suspension, at least we’ll have him fresh for city.”

While another posted: “Bissouma misses the villa game then. Rather he missed that than city.”

Bissouma had left Mario Lemina in a heap with a reckless challenge that led to the yellow card.

Postecoglou has brought the former Brighton ace largely in from the cold this season after failing to impress previous bosses Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini.

Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have become key players under the new establishment while Spurs have had a fine season.

They had been unbeaten in the Premier League prior to Monday night after an erratic 4-1 loss to Chelsea, where Tottenham had two players sent off.

But Postecoglou is not in a position to lose players at the moment, with several already missing.

Destiny Udogie might return from suspension after his red against Chelsea but Cristian Romero remains out until after the City match.

James Maddison and Micky van de Ven, though, will be missing until next year throught injury.
