Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham had a first half from hell as two of his stars went off injured.

Spurs went ahead against London rivals Chelsea in Mauricio Pochettino’s return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Dejan Kulusevski putting his side 1-0 up in the sixth minute.

But after a bright start, it didn’t take long for Spurs’ luck to run out.

As if going down to ten men following Cristian Romero’s red card for his challenge on Enzo Fernandez, conceding a penalty and Postecoglou getting booked for his touchline protests wasn’t enough, Spurs were then also given two injury blows after Chelsea’s equaliser.

First, James Maddison went down with an ankle injury, with the former Leicester star then needing to be withdrawn.

Then, things got even worse for Spurs, with defender Micky van de Ven also having to hobble off the pitch.

The Spurs star had pulled up clutching his hamstring and looked to be in serious pain.

He then went to ground and had to be replaced.

It marked Spurs’ second and third subs of the evening, with Brennan Johnson having to go off for Eric Dier after Romero’s sending off.

Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Hojberg were also introduced for the hosts.

“This is issue after issue for Postecoglou to solve,” talkSPORT’s commentator for the game Sam Matterface said live from the stadium.

But Spurs bad luck didn’t stop there, as Destiny Udogie received a second yellow for a foul on Raheem Sterling, putting the home side down to nine men.

Nicolas Jackson went on to net a second half hat-trick to seal a 4-1 win for Chelsea, ending Tottenham’s unbeaten run so far this season.
