Tyreek Hill challenged Lionel Messi to race… but was awkwardly ignored in his DMs

We may never find out who is the fastest number 10 in Miami.

And it’s not for the want of trying either, with notoriously rapid Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill revealing he was up for taking on Lionel Messi.

In fact, so keen was the NFL’s best to test himself against football’s best, he sent Messi a message on Instagram to get down to business.

However, Hill’s 2.3million follower count wasn’t enough to get him noticed among the Barcelona legend’s 493m fans on the app.

Joining CBS Golazo for their coverage of the Champions League, host Kate Abdo asked Hill: “I was reading that when Lionel Messi pulled up in town in Miami you challenged him to a race to find out who is the fastest number 10 in Miami, did you get a response to that?”

Hill replied: “No I didn’t get a response to that, just like everybody else, waiting in the DMs, left on read.”

Micah Richards then had his say though, joking that he reckons he could’ve beaten Hill in his day, but he was quickly shot down.

“I could have taken him,” Richards joked.

Clint Dempsey quickly popped up, though, saying: “This guy is crazy, he’d have popped both hamstrings, don’t lie to the people.”

Hill then made matters worse for the former Manchester City man, saying: “With your figure you look more like a lineman, they block and they tackle, they’re heavy.”

To which Thierry Henry said: “He wasn’t that heavy before, I don’t know what happened.”
