The clash was watched by his father, Luiz Manuel Diaz, who was held by kidnappers for 12 days before his release last week.

Arsenal‘s Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring for Brazil before Diaz turned the match on his head in emotional fashion.

Despite being on the losing side, Brazil goalkeeper and Liverpool teammate Alisson embraced the 26-year-old post-match in a touching moment.

“Alisson told me he’s very happy because he knows what we went through,” Diaz told Colombian outlet El Espectador.

“He is a great person, I admire him a lot because off the field he is a great human being and he gave me all the support I could have to be calm in those difficult moments.”

Liverpool fans were quick to take to X, formerly Twitter, after being touched by the heartwarming scenes.

One said: “Alisson is the real heart of Liverpool’s squad.”

Another added: “Love this so good makes me so proud to b part of one big happy Liverpool family and to see these two great players play for us YNWA”
