NFL replaces Taylor Swift with Vikings’ Josh Dobbs, everyone’s favourite QB, in huge social media move
Move over, Taylor Swift.
Josh Dobbs is taking the Minnesota Vikings higher and it’s time to talk real football again.
The NFL went all-in with Dobbs’ incredible feel-good story, making the former career backup quarterback the main image on the league’s X account.
Dobbs replaced Swift as the new, cool face of the NFL, with the league’s social media brand using a photo of the aerospace engineer -calmly drinking out of a cup on the sideline as its biggest promotional image to more than 34 million followers.
The league was criticized earlier this season for overdoing it with Swift saturation and faced a backlash from football fans.
Minnesota is 2-0 with Dobbs taking the Vikings higher.
His new team has improved to 6-4, despite losing franchise QB Kirk Cousins for the season.
Dobbs’ warm personality and off-the-field intelligence have created a perfect story for the NFL during an unpredictable season.
The 2023 campaign has been dominated by unknown QBs being forced to take the field due to injuries.
While Swift is an international pop star, the constant coverage of the musician during Kansas City Chiefs games left many fans criticizing the league.
Making Dobbs the primary image of the NFL’s X account was met with near-universal approval.
“We all approve of this,” a fan replied. “Dobbs to the moon.”
“We stan the Passtronaut,” another fan posted.
“Finally. Josh Dobbs is way more relevant than her anyway,” a third fan said.
“OK now this is a move I can get behind,” another fan wrote. “A true gamer not just a grab to bring in fans.”
