England return to action this Friday as they welcome Malta to Wembley having already secured their place at Euro 2024.
The Three Lions booked their place at the showpiece tournament by beating Italy 3-1 in October during the last international break.
Gareth Southgate’s side can’t relax just yet though as they will want to clinch top spot in Group C with another victory.
Ukraine sit three points behind with one game to play, meaning if England beat Malta, their place at the summit of the group will be secure with a match to spare.
England vs Malta: Still no Sterling
The 28-year-old put in a superb performance against his former club, grabbing a goal and proving that he is more than good enough to have received another call-up.
However, since that game, three more players have been added to the squad ahead of Sterling and he will not be featuring for his country once again.
Speaking after making the decision, Southgate said: “The door is 100 per cent open not only for Raheem but for other players not in the squad.
“We don’t need to know about his quality, his personality. He is a crucial part of why we’ve had the journey we’ve had over the last few years.
“I can only repeat what I have said in the meetings, we’re playing exceptionally well and who can I leave out?”

England vs Malta: What has been said?
Away from Sterling, Southgate also had a slight headache at right back, with Arsenal’s Ben White missing out on the squad once again.
The England boss spoke about his absence, saying: “Ben has been very solid for Arsenal.
“He’s a different profile of full-back. He’s a centre-back playing at full-back, really.
“He’s behind a couple of others. We’ve got Kyle [Walker], we’ve got Kieran [Trippier], Reece James, it’s a position we’ve got strength.
“There’s a couple of good young ones coming through.”
