The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) are advertising for new VAR officials – but applicants need no experience.

Referees have come under huge pressure this season after a series of high-profile errors that have led to outrage from several clubs.

PGMOL chief Howard Webb has been desperate to clear out the gaffes and his latest measure could be his most outlandish plot.

According to The Sun, the PGMOL are now advertising for new roles to add to the VAR staff to improve performances.

The job adverts have been circulated among qualified officials, encouraging them to become specialists in VAR.

However, no prior experience is necessary with the video technology used.

The job description includes the need to ‘provide clear communication under pressure’ and ‘identify when VAR needs to intervene’.

Another necessary facet for prospective candidates is the ‘ability to focus and have great communication skills’, something lacking this season.

It was a clear miscommunication that led to Luis Diaz’s goal being ruled for offside against Tottenham earlier this season, despite the Liverpool star being onside.

That has been just one flashpoint this year already of several high-profile mistakes, including two wrongly awarded penalties given against Wolves two games in a row.
