Best Acca insurance offers: Top bookies with Acca insurance for UK players in 2023

Nov 11, 2023

For most punters, a Saturday afternoon wouldn’t be complete without a football accumulator.

Accumulators, or accas, as they have become affectionately known, are a big part of British betting culture, with hopeful bettors slapping optimistic 8 folds on and gathering around their TVs to watch the football results roll in. Of course, it is not just football that is popular for accas, with the likes of horse racing, darts, and tennis also proving a hit.

Accas can be a lot of fun, but they can also be incredibly frustrating. We’ve all had that horrible experience of seeing a late winner cost us a potentially big return, with all of our other selections coming in.

That is where acca insurance offers a step in. These will cover you in the event of one selection letting your entire acca down. While it won’t compensate your win, it will cover your losses, with the offer returning your original stake to, or in some cases, giving you a free bet to use.

What is Acca insurance?

Acca insurance is a promotional feature that covers players against losses when they place an accumulator bet. In most cases, the bookie will return the player’s bets in either cash or a free bet if one selection lets them down. Some bookies, to attract more players, may even insure against more than one losing selection.

How does acca insurance work?

Acca insurance is a popular feature that protects a player’s stakes against a losing bet. Accumulator bets are particularly popular for events that are part of big football competitions, for example. We’ve all been there – an 8-fold accumulator coming in with minutes to go, only for a late goal to cost you everything. With acca insurance, players will receive some sort of compensation. This typically comes in the form of your stake being returned to you or a free bet.

Your acca covers:

  • Southampton to beat Brentford
  • Manchester City to beat Arsenal
  • Liverpool to beat Aston Villa
  • Chelsea to beat Everton
  • Manchester United to beat Fulham

The first four results come in, but Manchester United slump to a defeat against Fulham. In this instance, you won’t win the bet, but your stake will be returned to you as either a free bet or funds in your account. If, however, both Manchester United and Chelsea were to lose, then you would not be covered by acca insurance and your bet would be lost.

What are Acca insurance selection requirements?

As with all bonuses and promotions, there are some terms and conditions a player will need to adhere to to make sure that they qualify for acca-insurance. To qualify for acca insurance, your acca will need to meet certain requirements these are typically around the odds of the bet and the number of selections made.

For example, Paddy Power’s acca insurance bonus requires players to have at least four selections on their accumulator. The minimum odds on each bet must be at least 1/5. So, if you have Man City to win at 1/10 on your accumulator and it somehow ends up losing, don’t expect your acca insurance to kick in and save you.

Some acca insurance offers will only apply to specific sports and can not be used with other bonuses such as bet-builders or price boosts. We recommend reading through the terms & conditions of each bookies’ acca insurance to make you understand when and how your acca insurance will be applied.

How to claim an Acca insurance offer

In most cases, bookmakers will automatically apply acca insurance to your bet providing it meets their minimum requirements. Getting signed up and placing an acca is also a nice easy process. Players just need to follow these steps to get started and take advantage of an acca insurance offer.

  • Follow one of the links provided to sign-up with or visit your preferred bookmaker.
  • Locate your chosen sport and find the markets you would like to bet.
  • Place your accumulator, being sure to meet the minimum requirements. For example, if you need four selections at odds of 1/5 each, then make sure you have selected that.
  • Confirm your accumulator. Your acca insurance will be automatically applied.
  • Watch your bet unfold. If one selection loses, you will be either refunded your stake or given a free bet.

Things to look out for with Acca insurance offers

There is plenty of acca insurance offers on the market right now, so how do you know how to determine the great from the good? Keeping an eye on the following criteria will help you assess the best bookmakers to use for your accas.

Minimum odds

Bookies will list minimum odds per selection for accumulators, with some being much lower than others. For example, some bookmakers may only allow selections that are evens and above, while others may allow you to place selections with lower odds than that. While they may not add much to the overall value of your accumulator, sometimes you can’t resist throwing Manchester City at home or a San Marino defeat onto your acca just to give it that little boost, and you will want to find insurance that covers these.

Minimum and maximum number of selections

Most acca insurance style bets will cover you for four or more, but this might not always be the case. You want to make sure you are getting insurance on accas of all sizes, whether they are big or small, so be sure to avoid any acca insurance that doesn’t cover all of the bets you want to place. In most cases, bookmakers will not have restrictions on the maximum number of selections you can place, but it is always worth checking.

Refund value

One of the biggest factors for determining the best acca insurance is just how much it insures you. Most bookmakers will only return bets up to a certain amount, while some will have fixed free bet returns. For example, some bookies will provide a £10 free bet as insurance, regardless of the value of the acca. Needless to say, you will want to select the acca insurance offer that provides you with the biggest refund value or free bet.

Why don’t all bookies have Acca insurance?

We wish we knew! Acca insurance is a great promotion and a brilliant incentive for players to sign up with a bookie. Acca insurance-style promotions are growing in popularity, and more bookmakers are likely to embrace them in the near future.

Some bookies decide to offer different twists on the traditional acca insurance offer. They may offer promotions or boosts involving accas instead.

How do I know if a bookie has insurance?

If you are using a bookmaker that we haven’t listed here, then the best way to check if they have acca insurance is to check their promotions and offer pages. If you do not see an acca insurance promotion, then you could always drop the customer support team a quick message to see if they do offer it. In some cases, bookies will only offer it at specific events or during promotional periods.

What does Acca insurance mean?

Acca insurance means accumulator insurance. This is a feature that will see a player’s stake returned up to a certain amount, or be credited back to them as a free bet if one selection costs them their accumulator.
