Down Royal betting tips

2.02: Magical Zoe 15/8 (1pt)

Worth backing this course and distance winner who returned from her summer break with a great win at Gowran in late September.

She was notably a close second to You Wear It Well at Cheltenham Festival in March and that form has worked out well having also returned from the summer to win a listed mares race at Wetherby last weekend.

Crucially, she is the value play in this field given her top-level experience and goes off the same weight as she won last time out, which was also just 2lb higher than her Cheltenham Festival rating.

Chelmsford betting tips

1.20: Araijfan 9/2 (1pt)

A fair bit of improvement can be expected on what is just his third run since having a wind op.

He showed that on his second start with a nice fourth place finish in a field of 11 last time out at Wolverhampton.

Has plenty of experience here and there’s a plethora of reasons why the others shorter in the odds do not appeal for this.

One being Langholm who has only been on the turf before and after 50 runs it is a surprise that this is his first run on the all-weather.

Exeter betting tips

12.35: Wrappedupinmay 10/11 (NAP – 2pts)

Paul Nicholls hasn’t had the best of form coming into the start of the season with him coming into this with a 16% strike-rate.

But it only takes a handful of wins to turn that around and it’s very horse dependent.

Wrappedupinmay is the odds-on shot under Harry Cobden who made the frame on his first start over hurdles despite being the odds-on favourite that day too.

He finished just over a length behind Mt Fugi Park but he also may have needed the run.

The pair were also left in the clear ahead of the rest of the field and that bodes well again heading into this contest.

2.55: Grey Dawning 9/4 (1pt)

This is a great running of the Future Stars Silver Bowl Novices’ Chase with Stay Away Fay and Grey Dawning two contenders who should make it a great battle over 3m.

Grey Dawning won three of his five runs last season from November to April.

Ending in a fall at Aintree on his first start over 3m having mostly been raced around two and a half miles.

Crucially he has form on soft and heavy ground which is what will be the main challenge in the weekend.

He’s always given the impression that there was more to his potential last season and that could have come from the improvement over the summer for the hurdling experts, in the Skelton yard.
