Antony latest: When did he last play for Manchester United and is he back in training? Brazilian available for selection
Manchester United have announced Antony will return to training but won’t be available for selection this weekend.
The Brazilian has had a spell away from Man United after delaying his return to the club following international duty.
But United have since confirmed that the 23-year-old will be back in contention for Erik ten Hag’s side, starting with Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace.
Antony: When did he last play for Man United?
Antony has not played for United since the club’s 3-1 defeat by Arsenal in early September before the international break.
The winger had travelled to Brazil but delayed his return after being given a leave of absence by the Premier League side following allegations of domestic abuse.
Antony’s ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin claims he assaulted her on four occasions and, since she made her allegations, two more women have come forward.
Antony had been voluntarily interviewed by Brazilian police in June and was not arrested or charged.
Police in his homeland have confirmed they do not require any further information from him leading Antony to return to the UK.
Since returning, Antony has voluntarily agreed to meet with Greater Manchester Police for questioning and will hand over his phone for inspection.
Antony denies all of the allegations against him.
A statement released by the club read: “Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.
“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed.
“This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case. As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse.
“We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
Antony is not expected to be at training on Friday.
As a result, he will not be considered for selection in United’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Saturday, live on talkSPORT.
The former Ajax star has already missed four games since being given leave on full pay by United.
